Specimen lockboxes are convenient, but they are also one of the most vulnerable points in the preanalytical process. Outdoor and semi-sheltered lockboxes can be exposed to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and unpredictable courier pickup times, creating conditions that may threaten specimen integrity. Sun Diagnostics’ insulated lockbox insert is designed to address that risk by creating a more controlled micro-environment inside the lockbox. The Sun Diagnostics insulated insert is designed to fit inside a common size lockbox (12” L × 9” W × 12” H) and functions as an extra thermal control layer. Built with 14 mm expanded polyethylene foam insulation and a radiant barrier lining, the insert helps reduce conductive and radiant heat transfer while minimizing direct contact between gel packs and specimen tubes.
